Fall is in the air and that means it is time for pumpkin everything! In our house, we love decorating with pumpkins so naturally, we do all sorts of pumpkin crafts for kids all season long to go with our fall crafts for kids. I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite pumpkin crafts with you so that you can do them with your kids too!
Pumpkin Crafts for Kids
These pumpkin crafts are great for children of all ages. Adults can join in on the fun as well! Let’s celebrate fall and make some DIY crafts.
Tissue Paper Pumpkin Craft
Supplies Needed:
- Picture of a pumpkin
- Orange tissue paper
- Glue
We love a good tissue paper craft in our house! To make this tissue paper pumpkin you will need to either draw or print a picture of a pumpkin off the internet.
- To begin you will want to cut your orange tissue paper into 1-inch squares.
- Once cut then you will have your kids dab the orange tissue paper into the glue and stick on the pumpkin. The goal is for them to cover the pumpkin with orange tissue paper to make a really cute pumpkin.
This is a great craft that kids of all ages can enjoy making.
Paper Plate Pumpkin
Supplies Needed:
This paper plate pumpkin is a simple pumpkin craft for toddlers. Before you begin be sure you gather the supplies needed to complete the project.
- First, have your kids paint the white paper plate orange.
- Once it is painted let it dry.
- After it is dry let your toddler cut out a “Pumpkin face” for the plate.
- Allow them to glue the face on.
- Next, punch a hole at the top of the pumpkin and attach the pipe cleaner as the stem.
Now you have a paper plate pumpkin. If your kids love this project let them create a whole pumpkin patch of paper plate pumpkins.
Pumpkin Suncatcher
Supplies Needed:
- 2 Pieces of orange construction paper that is big enough to cut a pumpkin out of it.
- Contact paper
- Tissue paper that are fall colors
- Scissors
- Black construction paper
One of my favorite crafts for kids are creating suncatchers. This pumpkin suncatcher will be great to look at throughout the fall.
- Start this pumpkin suncatcher cut both pieces of orange construction paper in the shape of a pumpkin. You want to cut these at the same time because you want them to line up.
- Next, you will want to cut your tissue paper into rectangles.
- Unroll your contact paper and lay with the sticky side up.
- Expose the sticky side and lay 1 orange pumpkin gently on top.
- Next, place your tissue paper shapes all over the inside of your pumpkin.
- Once done, add the other orange pumpkin on top.
- Take another piece of contact paper, sticky side down, and stick it on top of the pumpkin to create your pumpkin suncatcher.
If you are doing this pumpkin craft with younger kids you will probably want to go ahead and help them with the contact paper to ensure that it does not stick to everything.
Pumpkin Apple Stamps
Supplies Needed:
- Apple cut in half
- Orange paint
- Black marker
- Green marker
- Throwaway paper plate
If you are looking for pumpkin crafts for preschoolers this is the project for you! They will love creating pumpkin apple stamps.
- To begin, have an adult cut an apple long way.
- Add orange paint to the paper plate.
- Have your child dip the apple into the orange paint and then stamp it onto a white sheet of paper. They can stamp as many apples as they can. Let this dry completely before moving on.
- Once dry, have your kids draw with the black marker pumpkin faces onto the pumpkins.
- Have them add a green stem and a leaf to the top.
Your preschooler has now just created a cute little pumpkin patch with an apple stamp!
Pumpkin Picture Frame
Supplies Needed:
- 7 Jumbo popsicle sticks
- Orange paint
- Green paint
- Glue
- A Picture of themselves
If you are wanting to create a pumpkin craft keepsake then have your kids make these cute pumpkin picture frames.
- First, you will want to paint 6 jumbo popsicle sticks orange and paint one stick green.
- Once dry have them glue the orange ones together.
- Attach the gree stick to the back like a stem.
- Have them attach a picture on the front.
This fun pumpkin craft for kids will last a lifetime.
Painting Pumpkins
Supplies Needed:
- Pumpkin
- Several Colors of paint
- Several paint brushes
- Paper plate to squirt paint on
- Newspaper
Kids love carving pumpkins, but for young children, this is not always the safest activity! Painting pumpkins is a great pumpkin craft for toddlers. This project allows them to have fun with pumpkins and create something for them to be proud of.
- To begin you will definitely want to put a painting smock on your child because they will get a little messy.
- Cover the surface they will be painting on with old newspaper.
- Place their pumpkin on the surface covered with newspaper.
- Squirt paint onto the paper plate.
- Once everything is set up, let your kids go crazy decorating their pumpkin however they like.
- Let the pumpkin sit and dry.
- After it is dry let your kids carry it to the front yard to display.
The great thing about painted pumpkins is that they last all season long!
Pumpkin Handprint Art
Supplies Needed:
- White cardstock or white canvas
- Orange, brown, green paint
- Foam brush to paint your child’s feet
Is anyone else a sucker for handprint art? I love helping my kids create these projects so I can see just how big their hands (and feet) grow through art.
- To begin you will want to gather all the supplies.
- Then you will have your toddler take off their shoes and you will paint both their feet.
- Here comes the tricky part! Make sure they do not set their feet down on anything so you don’t get paint everywhere.
- Take one of your toddler’s feet and make a footprint on the paper/ canvas.
- Repeat this process with the other foot right next to the other foot to create a pumpkin.
- Wash your toddler’s feet.
- Let the footprints dry before moving on.
- Once dry paint a stem on with brown paint.
- Then paint the vine and leaves green.
This pumpkin craft for kids will last a lifetime as you will always remember how cute their tiny feet were!
