The Unfortunate Turn of Events for Marc Marquez's MotoGP Journey
In a recent interview, Ducati's MotoGP boss, Gigi Dall'Igna, revealed the 'main problem' stemming from Marc Marquez's latest injury. This revelation sheds light on the complex dynamics within the team and the impact it has on their future plans.
Marquez, at 32, had just secured his seventh premier class title at the Japanese Grand Prix, a remarkable achievement as a factory Ducati rider. With five rounds left, the team was already strategizing for 2026, using the remaining races as a testing ground. However, fate had other plans.

Dall'Igna expressed his sympathy, stating, "He was really unlucky. It wasn't his fault, but these things happen sometimes." He added, "Marc knows he must accept this and follow the reasonable path ahead."
The initial plan was to utilize the final races of 2025 to develop something new. However, this is now impossible, and according to Dall'Igna, "This is the main problem of this accident."
Ducati has faced challenges with Pecco Bagnaia, the double world champion, whose inconsistent form since the summer break has made him unreliable for this critical task.
For the final two rounds, starting this weekend in Portugal, Ducati will bring in World Superbike star Nicolo Bulega to replace Marquez. Additionally, Marquez will miss the post-race test in Valencia after the season finale.
While no timeline for his recovery has been given, MotoGP medical director Dr. Angel Charte emphasized in a recent interview that Marquez must be 100% fit before returning.
