Williams resigns County Red Cross swim as Republican program set for season county chairman Norman J. Williams, chairman of the Miller County Republican Central Committee, announced today his resignation as chairman of that committee. Williams is a candidate for the Republican nomination for state representative from the 123rd District which includes Miller Maries Counties and the townships of Clark, Osage and Liberty in Cole County. Williams said that he felt it would be to the best interests of his party not to act as county chairman while he was engaged in a contested race in the primary election. He said it had always been the policy of the county committee not to endorse any candidate in the primary elections.
