DIY Bubble Mixture Recipe
Summer vacation is coming up and do you have some activities ready for your child? Have you ever tried to make your own DIY Bubble Mixture Recipe? I have one for you that you can have on hand for your kid(s).
We LOVE blowing bubbles with our daughter. It's the perfect distraction, a great boredom breaker and it's less expensive than buying the stuff in the store!
The key is using Dawn dishsoap (regular), to me, that has always made the best bubble mixture.
That's my husband Eric blowing large bubbles with my daughter and my mom is in the background in one of the pictures. We did this at my daughter's recent 3rd birthday party.
We always save bubble wands and containers so that we can reuse them with our own DIY Bubble Mixture Recipe.

Please caution your readers to make sure that they put the mixture in a deep, microwaveable bowl 🤩 I used a large Ziploc bag and learned the hard way, lol.

Can I ask the purpose of microwaving for 4 minutes? Excited to try this with our kids! Bubbles aren’t always accessible where we live 🙂

From my understanding, it makes the bubbles stronger and longer lasting. Thank you for commenting!

I didn't read the actual instructions before nixing the ingredients so I didn't do the microwave step. We'll see how the bubbles are this afternoon as our granddaughter is coming over and she always wants to play with bubbles.☺️

What if you don’t have a microwave. Can you use a stove instead?

Yes, you can use a saucepan on the stovetop instead of the microwave to create the bubble solution for this activity. Here are the modified instructions:
Materials:
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup Dawn dish soap (regular)
Tools:Bubble wand(s)
Instructions:In a saucepan, mix 2 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of light corn syrup with a whisk until they are well combined.
Place the saucepan on the stovetop over low to medium heat. Heat the mixture, stirring continuously, until it is warm and the ingredients are fully dissolved. This usually takes a few minutes; do not let it boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Once the mixture has cooled, stir in 1/2 cup of Dawn dish soap.
Now you have your bubble solution ready for use with your bubble wand(s).
Using the stovetop and saucepan is a suitable alternative to the microwave, especially if you don't have a microwave or prefer to use the stovetop. Just be sure to heat the mixture gently and avoid boiling it.Reply
